Our mission is to/Covid Update:

The COVID-19 restrictions have meant that we’ve had little opportunity to rehearse together in the last year, let alone put on any charitable performances.  But this hasn’t deterred us from making music! We’ve exploited what’s now available to us in the digital age to engage in Zoom tutorials – but even better – to produce recordings of some of our favourite numbers. We hope to resume rehearsals soon and have a number of gigs pencilled in for 2021 as soon as restrictions are lifted, so keep an eye on our events page. You can listen to our new lockdown ‘Sync or Sink’ album now, on the Listen To The Band  (coming soon) page. Enjoy!

▹    Provide a local facility for musicians seeking to experience and enhance their ability to play Jazz / Swing / Rhythm & Blues in a Big Band context

▹    Develop personal playing ability (both in soloing and as a unit) and seek to achieve and maintain a high standard of musicianship

▹    Seek public performance opportunities

We are privileged to be tutored and mentored by Bristol jazz legend Andy Hague

The band’s ever expanding repertoire of well over 150 numbers covers a broad spectrum, from styles associated with the likes of Count Basie, Buddy Rich, Duke  Ellington and Glen Miller, music from musicals and film themes, smooth ballads, Latin and some groovy funk.  And for vocals, we often feature the (in)famous ‘Mendip Sisters’

We have entertained enthusiastic audiences and dancers at a variety of charitable events, for instance supporting Macmillan Cancer SupportYouth at HeartMend the Gap and local youth groups
